South Korea’s Engineering & Construction to modernize oil refinery in Uzbekistan

SK Engineering & Construction will modernize an oil refinery in Uzbekistan which will produce the central Asian country’s first eco-friendly oil products, Business Korea reports.

The company announced on April 21 that it signed a US$600 million contract with Uzbekneftegas, a state-run oil and gas corporation of Uzbekistan, to modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery. It is the first time that SK E&C carries out a project in Uzbekistan.

The project will modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery, a plant with a daily production capacity of 50,000 barrels. The refinery is located in Bukhara, 437 km southwest of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

The modernization work will enable the refinery to improve the quality of its products such as gasoline, diesel and lube oil. SK E&C will meet the EuroV new environmental standards (EuroV) in the construction process.
