Uzbek companies sign $1 bn. contracts to export fruits and vegetables

Uzbekistan has signed contracts for the supply of fruits and vegetables for more than $1 billion at the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair in Tashkent.

“Uzbekistan has signed 355 contracts of more than $1 billion. The agreements envisage supplies of 1.4 million tons of fruits and vegetables,” reported Uzagroeksport company.

According to the company, vegetables will make up 32% of the total amount of contracted products, grapes – 17%, fruits – 25%, dried, processed products, and legumes – 13% each, melons – 1%.

In ten months of 2016, Uzbek farmers exported nearly about 670,000 tons of products, and by the end of this year the index is expected to reach 1 million tons.
