Vladimir Putin congratulates Mirziyoyev, invites him to Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on winning the Uzbekistan presidential election, the Kremlin press service said in a statement.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev won presidential election with 88.61 percent of the votes, according to the Uzbek Central Election Commission.

“During a telephone conversation on December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on a convincing victory in the Uzbek presidential elections and wished him successes on the post,” the Kremlin statement said.

“Putin also invited President-elect of Uzbekistan to visit Russia on an official visit; an invitation was accepted with gratitude,” the statement said.
