New President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had taken oath and assumed office
The newly-elected President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today took office, the local media reported.
Inauguration ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place in Tashkent during the joint session of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Parliament.
The meeting was attended by the Central Election Commission and the government members, judges and diplomatic missions accredited in Tashkent, as well as media representatives.
Congratulating the President, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov handed over a certificate of President of Uzbekistan.
After taking the oath, Mirziyoyev delivered a speech.
Mirziyoyev on December 4 at the presidential elections of Uzbekistan won 88.61% of the vote.
Four candidates from the political parties of Uzbekistan ran for president.
The snap presidential election of Uzbekistan was held after the first president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov died on September 2 after a stroke.
