Strengthening ties of friendship

At the Alisher Navoi state academic grand theatre of Uzbekistan, the opening of Russia’s Days in Uzbekistan has taken place.

The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, creative and public organizations, diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan, art lovers, students and young people.

The deputy minister for culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, F.Jalolov; the Russian Federation’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in this country, V.Tyurdenev; and others have said that the time-tested relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation are based on principles of friendship, mutual trust and all-round cooperation.

It should be said that Uzbekistan’s First President Islam Karimov and the Russian Federation’s President Vladimir Putin made a great contribution to strengthening the bilateral relations.

The relations between the two countries are developing consistently within the framework of the treaty on strategic partnership, signed 16 June 2004, and the treaty on allied relations, signed 14 November 2005.

Alongside with the socio-political and socio-economic spheres, the bilateral relations are strengthening more and more in the cultural-humanitarian area as well. There are branches of the M.Lomonosov Moscow State University, V.Plekhanov Russian Economics University and the I.Gubkin Russian state university of oil and gas functioning in Tashkent.

Exhibitions of works of Uzbek painters and national craftsmen are successfully held in Russia. At festivals and creative contests conducted in Russia, Uzbek theatre artistes present the best plays of their repertoire to Russian spectators. Uzbekistan’s public are very well familiar with the creative work of Russian theatre artistes, musicians, painters, photographers and masters of choreography.

A programme of cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere for 2016-2018 signed between the governments of the two countries is of important significance to the further strengthening, expansion and enrichment of the ties of friendship between the two nations.

In multi-ethnic Uzbekistan, representatives of more than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups live in peace and harmony as one big family. Among them are ethnic Russians working for the country’s bright future, prosperity and wellbeing.

Russia’s Days taking place within the framework of the “Oltin Kuz” (golden autumn) international music festival will help to familiarize Uzbek people with the best examples of Russia’s culture, to further strengthen cooperation in such areas as culture and enlightenment as well as friendly relations between the two nations.

The event began with a concert by the “Terema” youth orchestra of Russian folk instruments. An exhibition of children’s pictures entitled “Russia’s soul” was arranged as well. In these impressive works, children depicted with sincerity and moral purity characteristic of them their understanding of peace and calm, their family and Motherland, goodness, mutual respect and friendship.
