Beer-like drink Sapporo Super Star: Authentic Sapporo is better

Sapporo Breweries Ltd. and sporting goods maker Mizuno Corp. have produced a beer-like beverage for sports-minded people who may feel guilty about quenching their thirst with booze after a workout.
The non-alcohol Sapporo Super Star is scheduled to hit retail shelves on Feb. 25.
“You will no longer need to feel guilty about gobbling up suds even after physical activity,” said Soichi Sakashita, an executive officer at Sapporo Breweries, during an unveiling event. “Our product will surely offer you with a comfortable savor.”
Sapporo Super Star is classified as a beer-flavored beverage and falls into the same category as sodas due to its 0.00-percent alcohol content.
Expected to be consumed immediately following exercise, the fake beer boasts a refreshing aroma and a distinctive clean aftertaste.

Sapporo Super Star is a blend of more than one hop variety, along with citric acid, sodium and various other ingredients.
The mock beer will be sold year-round exclusively within six prefectures of the Kinki region in western Japan.
A 350-milliliter can of Sapporo Super Star will carry a price tag of 170 yen ($1.07), excluding tax, at convenience stores, supermarkets and mass retailers in the region.
Working with Minami Shinshu Beer Co., Mizuno created and released the alcohol-free beverage Puhaah in 2022. The beer imitation is commercially available at Mizuho’s affiliated facilities and official website.
Learning of the earlier project, Sapporo Breweries proposed the collaboration to Mizuno.
According to Sapporo Breweries, the fake alcohol drink market expanded by 23 percent from 2019 through 2024.
The brewery believes post-workout Sapporo Super Star can further stimulate the growing market. It plans to eventually sell the non-alcohol beverage on a nationwide scale.
