Classic music fiesta in Uzbek capital – Tashkent

For more than 120 participants of the Yangi Ovozlar (New Voices) TV Contest, the qualifying round held last week was the latest chance to get into the main program and show off their talents on TV screens.

The participants did their best to impress the jury, which consisted of Akmal Atamuhamedov, Farhod Saidov and Khurshid Inagamov. The contestants aged 18-30 thought out every detail of their performance, starting from the dress and finishing with the compositions of different genres. Many have demonstrated equally good performance of pop and traditional songs. The compositions were performed not only in Russian and Uzbek languages, but English, French, Italian, and many others. For two days, the participants from different regions of the country demonstrated their skills.

The contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the National TV and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the Uzbeknavo Variety Arts Association, the Uzbekkino National Association, and the Center for Youth Culture and Arts, aims to create a platform for young talents, discover pop singers and bring them to a professional activity.

To the decision of the jury, only 45 participants passed to the main program, for which it is already a small victory, as in the next rounds of the vocal contest they will work with renowned figures of the sphere. Contestants not only compete for to be the best ‘new voice’ of the country. Immersed in an atmosphere of creative competition, they will increase their professional skills, show their talents to the whole country through the domestic channels which will broadcast the contest.

“Soon the names of mentors will be announced, among which will be the People’s artists of the country. Each of them will choose his or her team from among contestants, with whom they will prepare the numbers. A true moment of the contest begins then,” a spokesperson for the Center for Youth Culture and Arts Farrukh Yunusov says.
