Dr M. – Great Malaysian PM for 21 years – has been undergoing health treatment: Praying for his complete healing and to celebrate 125th anniversary

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been granted home leave by doctors at the National Heart Institute (IJN), allowing him to spend nights at home while continuing to receive treatment during the day in hospital.
A statement from Dr Mahathir’s office confirmed this today, marking a month since he was admitted for treatment after fracturing his hip in a fall.

“Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Jan 6, 2026, for treatment of a fractured right hip following a fall at his residence in The Mines.
“Over the past two days, on Feb 4 and 5, Dr Mahathir was granted “home leave”, allowing him to return home and spend the night at his residence.
“During the daytime, he returned to IJN to continue treatment and remain under medical observation,” the statement read.

It added that the IJN medical team is satisfied with the progress of his recovery and his response to ongoing medical treatment and physiotherapy.
Although he has been allowed to return home in stages, Dr Mahathir remains under the supervision of the IJN medical team.
However, the statement added, doctors have advised that he should not receive visitors other than immediate family members for the time being.
“Dr Mahathir, his wife and family extend their appreciation to those who have enquired about his health and offered prayers for his recovery and well-being,” it said.
