Dr. M: With winter coming to Gaza soon, MACC should allow Aman Palestine to send funds

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) needs to allow Aman Palestin Bhd to use RM10 million in its frozen accounts to help people in Gaza.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir said that the graftbusters should allow the money to be channelled to the Palestinians and other residents of the Arabian Peninsula who are facing winter, even though the organisation is still under investigation.

“If the MACC doubts whether the money will reach the Palestinian people or not, they can send their officers to accompany Aman Palestin representatives who are entrusted with channelling the money to the Palestinians.

“If not, the act by MACC of not letting the RM10 million of funds to be distributed to them would mean that they are also abusing the Palestinian people who are indeed suffering as a result of the Israeli atrocities,” he wrote.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad criticised powerful Western nations and their media, labelling them hypocritical towards the reactions to the recent hostilities.

This was carried out after the MACC investigated allegations of Aman Palestin misappropriating RM70 million in public funds.

On Monday, Aman Palestin had given the MACC three days to unfreeze its account or face legal action.

However, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki had refused to do so as investigations were still ongoing.
