Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov took part in the international Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 forum held in the UAE on 11–15 January. The forum discussed initiatives in sustainable development, renewable energy, and the green economy.

The Ministry of Energy, Masdar, and Emirates Utilities Development Company (EUDC) have agreed to implement a project to ensure uninterrupted, round-the-clock power supply. Its capacity in baseload mode will amount to 1 GW.

The agreement was concluded between Uzenergosotish, Masdar, and Etihad Water & Electricity, the parent company of EUDC. The negotiations were attended by Mirzamakhmudov, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, and Masdar Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi.

The project’s implementation is expected to resolve the problem of disruptions in the supply of green electricity. It is also intended to serve as a model for the global rollout of similar solutions.

In addition, Masdar has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan to build a new 300 MW photovoltaic power plant and a 75 MWh energy storage complex. The facilities will be located in Guzar district of Kashkadarya region.

The future public-private partnership-based complex will make it possible to supply electricity to around 280,000 households. At the same time, 231 million cubic meters of gas per year will be saved, and atmospheric emissions will be reduced by 280,000 tons. The total capacity of projects developed with Masdar’s participation will reach 2 GW.

Project financing will be provided by the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In addition, the financing package will include funds provided by the Japan Partnership Fund, as well as the governments of Canada and Finland.
