Explosions in Turkestan town military warehouse in Kazakhstan: 45 people hurt
– The number of those affected by fire at an armed depot in Arys city, Turkestan region has reached 46 people, including 5 children, the health department of Shymkent .
“34 injured people were delivered to regional hospital of Turkestan region, 12 more were rendered a medical aid in a city hospital of Shymkent,” the report says.
After examination, children were sent to regional children hospital. One of them is in the intensive care unit of the city hospital.
Several blasts occurred today morning in one of the arms depots of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in Arys city. The circumstances are being established. A state of emergency is declared in the region. Evacuation of residents is underway.
About 43,000 people reside in Arys city.
Today it is difficult to say about severity of the accident in Arys city of Turkestan region, Deputy Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan Timur Dandybayev said at the Senate meeting, Zakon.kz reports.
However, the results of findings will be reported to the public, he noted.
According to him, the blasts might be caused by Soviet weapons.
“I should say we have Soviet weapons. We are taking measures to utilize these weapons after expiration of date. It is very expensive process,” Dandybaev noted.
