The Guangzhou Water Flower Fair kicked off at Yongqingfang Tourist Area in Guangzhou’s Xiguan ancient town on Feb 14. This unique event, tracing its roots to the Ming Dynasty, evokes the historic scene where flower farmers would navigate boats laden with flowers into the city for trade. It is also the direct origin of Guangzhou’s “Flower Fair” tradition and remains a distinctive Spring Festival folk custom unique to the Lingnan region and across China. Photos: Cui Meng/GT
