IMF Managing Director to visit Uzbekistan in mid-May
IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde is expected to visit Uzbekistan in mid-May to discuss with Uzbek authorities prospects of bilateral cooperation, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the central bank.
This will be the first visit of the IMF Managing Director to Uzbekistan during the last 10 years. In 2009, Uzbekistan was visited by IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kah.
In September 2017, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Christine Lagarde held a meeting in New York, when they discussed IMF technical assistance for the country’s currency, state statistics and taxation reforms.
The IMF advisor is working at the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan since recent time. The advisor is helping the State Tax Committee with development and adoption of the medium-term tax administration strategy for 2019-2023.
