KUALA LUMPUR: Passengers travelling to, from, or transiting through parts of the Middle East have been advised to check their latest flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport, following airspace restrictions in certain parts of the region.

In a statement today, Malaysia Airports said the restrictions may result in delays, rerouting or cancellations, depending on airlines’ safety assessments.

Malaysia mustn't blindly support Iran which has committed numerous atrocities against Muslims”

It said even where services continue to operate, schedules and routing could be revised at short notice, and passengers should verify their flight status directly with their airline before proceeding to the airport.

Malaysia Airports also cautioned that disruptions are not limited to direct services from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Passengers travelling to affected Middle East destinations via alternative transit points outside the region may also face suspended or restricted onward services into affected destinations.

“Travellers are therefore advised to verify the status of their entire journey, including connecting sectors, before making travel arrangements,” the statement said.

“Malaysia Airports said the airport community, including the operator, airlines, ground handlers, regulators and other stakeholders, is closely monitoring developments.

“Airport teams are on standby to provide guidance, coordinate with airlines on necessary arrangements and assist affected passengers at the terminals.”

Passengers are encouraged to ensure their contact details are updated with their airlines and to monitor official airline and airport channels for timely updates.

For information on passenger rights, travellers may refer to the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code under the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

Malaysia Airports also advised travellers to consult official travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wisma Putra, prior to travel.

“Safety remains the highest priority. Passengers are advised to plan ahead and stay informed,” it said.
