MANILA, Philippines — Davao native KZ Tandingan said if given a chance, she will write a song for Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
“(If I will) write a song for him, (it will be) a song of encouragement, a song na ire-remind sya sa mga bagay na dapat n’yang gawin at hindi n’ya dapat gawin. Sa lahat naman po ata ng mga politicians, may dapat na song na magreremind sa kanila to always do your best but to always be reminded of your limitations,” the pride of Digos, Davao said in a press conference of her latest album, “Soul Supremacy,” under Star Records.
Tandingan said she wanted to meet the president. “I am a very supportive of the president. Dapat lang naman talaga kasi we elected him. Nakita ko na sya sa personal pero ‘yung na-introduce talaga, how I wish.”
The “ASAP” Soul Sessionista’s new album features 11 songs with three additional tracks as bonus for her fans who have been eagerly waiting for her latest offerings.
The singer has also ventured into song-writing for this new album just like in her debut album. She wrote and composed the song “Halik Na Lang” and also wrote the lyrics for “Intro Lude.”
Other songs in the album are “Labo” penned by Jungee Marcelo, “Nag-iisa Na Naman” by Kiko Salazar, “Dapithapon” by Rox Santos, and “Imposible” by Gabriel Tagadtad.
Also part of the collection are the songs “Afraid” by Kid Wold, “With You” by Shorya Sharma, “Siya’y Darating” by Edwin Marollano, “Sayang” by Arlen Mandangan, and “Sa Aking Mga Kamay” by Aristotle Polistico.
Completing the album are additional tracks that include “Sa’yo,” the Tagalog version of “With You” written by Jonathan Manalo, and the hit song “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” by Edwin Marollano and “Ikaw At Ako Pa Rin” duet with boyfriend singer-songwriter TJ Moteverde, courtesy of Polyeast Records.
Tandingan admitted she is nervous writing the song with her boyfriend. “I write songs but di ko pa na-try magsulat ng kanta na may ka-collaboration, tapos boyfriend ko pa so na-pressure ako kasi baka hindi ko magawa ‘yung ina-ask nya. Ang sinulat ko dun ‘yung second verse tsaka yung mga bosesan namin.”
The album will also penetrate Singapore because of the collaboration with a British rapper based in Singapore. It will be promoted for Singaporean audience and not only in Filipino community.
“If ako ang gagamitin ng Panginoon para ma-penetrate ng OPM ang Singapore, I will be glad,” Tandingan said.
