Malaysia will not tolerate foreign intervention in domestic affairs
PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak vowed that foreign intervention in Malaysia’s domestic affairs would not be tolerated.
“Certain groups have admitted that they had accepted funds from (Hungarian-American philanthropist) George Soros via his Open Society Foundation (OSF).
“So there is foreign intervention in our country’s affairs. As a sovereign state which practices democracy, Malaysia will not allow other people to decide on who has the right to be our leader. This is my fundamental (stand),” he said in an interview on TV3’s Soal Jawab programme tonight.
USA Today had on Friday reported that supporters of US president-elect Donald Trump have started organising protests against Soros, who has been accused of contributing to civil unrest in the country.
The article quoted several individuals as claiming that the billionaire investor had funded the anti-Trump protests across the United States following Trump’s dramatic win in the recent US presidential election.
The report said while OSF had denied the claim, it was possible some groups supported by Soros could have been involved in the recent protests against Trump.
