Marshal Hartar’s Libyan forces secure Gharyan, arrive in al-Heira area
CAIRO (Reuters) – Eastern Libyan forces have fully secured the town of Gharyan south of the capital Tripoli and have arrived in the area of al-Heira, a spokesman for the force said on Thursday.
Eastern force commander Khalifa Haftar had earlier announced the start of an operation to take the capital.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – Forces allied to eastern Libyan forces on Thursday took over a checkpoint west of Tripoli, a resident and a video showed, part of an offensive on the Libyan capital home to the internationally recognised government.
The forces arrived at an area called “27 gate,” some 27 km (17 miles) west of Tripoli, residents said.
Tripoli (Reuters) – Armed groups from the western Libyan city of Misrata have started moving towards Tripoli to defend the capital against possible advance by Eastern forces, residents said on Thursday.
