Mitsubishi to built Turakurgan Thermal Power Plant
The unitary enterprise “Directorate for construction of Turakurgan thermal power plant”, JSC “Uzbekenergo” and a consortium of Japanese companies “Mitsubishi Corporation” and “Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd.” have signed a contract for the construction of a thermal power plant of 900 MW in the Namangan region on a “turnkey” basis.
The ceremony of contract signing saw Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Uzbekistan Nobuaki Ito, chief representative of JICA in the Republic of Uzbekistan Katsutoshi Fushimi and Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbekenergo” Fazlitdin Salomov.
The project envisages construction of new thermal power plant consisting of two modern and efficient combined cycle units, to ensure a reliable supply of enterprises and population areas of the Ferghana valley with electric energy.
Investors of the project are the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Fund for reconstruction and development of Uzbekistan and JSC “Uzbekenergo”.
