Mongolian government approves major energy and rail projects

The Mongolian government has approved major projects in the energy and rail transport sectors. The projects will be tendered in accordance with Mongolian law and be implemented in 2017, reports news.mn.

The following projects will be carried out next year:

– project aimed to increase the capacity of III Thermal Power Station for 250 MW and extend the heating system;

– project aimed to boost the capacity of Choibalsan Thermal Power Station by 50 MW and extend the heating system

– construction of an electric transmission line between Baganuur and Choir and extending the Baganuur substation

– construction of Choir substation

– construction of 35 kW electric transmission line from Khushuut mine to Altai Soum in Khovd Province and substation construction

– construction of 192 km railway between Choibalsan and the Khuut mine

– construction of 234 km railway from Khuut mine to Bichigt border crossing

– construction of 281 km railway from Zuunbayan station to Khangi border crossing

– construction of 45.3 km railway from Nariin Sukhait mine to Shivee Khuren border crossing.
