KUALA LUMPUR: Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has no plans to air the upcoming debate between Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said the debate is between the two individuals and not initiated by RTM.
“Dr Mahathir challenged Nazri to a debate in the latter’s constituency and Nazri accepted it.
“We are of the opinion that this is a debate between two individuals and not one that is initiated by RTM.
“So, we have no plans to air it live on RTM,” he told reporters after closing MIC’s ‘Pemimpin Berinformatif’ talk here, today.
On March 10, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Mahathir had challenged Nazri to a debate on issues such as the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and Bumiputera Malaysia Finance scandals.
Nazri, who is Tourism and Culture Minister, had accepted the challenge and said he is “looking forward” to locking horns with the former prime minister.
The debate is slated to be held on March 25 at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara, Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
