OIC to call for foreign minister-level meet to address Rohingya issue
TANJUNG PUTERI: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will call for a foreign minister-level meeting soon to address the Rohingya issue.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the OIC has “heard the voices of Malaysians”.
“This shows that our solidarity rally had caught their attention,” he said at a press conference after the Iskandar Malaysia 10th anniversary lunch today.
At the Sunday rally, which saw a gathering of 10,000 Malaysians and Rohingya, Najib categorically condemned the atrocities being committed on the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, in KOTA BARU, several non-governmental organisations and clubs in Kelantan collected RM4,000 in a four-day donation drive to help the Rohingya community
Receiving the donation from the project director, Nor’azam Nordin, was Media Prima Bhd representative Roselawati Ibrahim Afandi.
“This is our pilot project and we will organise similar one most likely next year,” he said, adding that donations came from Kelantan Motoring Association, Malaysia Voices of Women Foundation, Eddie Hamid Fan Club, Thai Media Friend Club and individuals who wished to remain anonymous.
