OIC Today: Uzbekistan demonstrates high growth rates
Popular Malaysian Business magazine OIC Today (Organization of Islamic Cooperation Today) has published a detailed article with a photo report on the economic development of Uzbekistan in the years of independence.
The publication cited figures showing faithfulness and effectiveness of the Uzbekistan’s selected own model of reforms. For the past 12 years the country has been demonstrating high rates of economic growth of 8%.
It is reported that in a short historical period the national economy grew by almost 6 times. GDP per capita in purchasing power parity increased by 4 times and now stands at nearly 7000 US dollars.
As pointed out by OIC Today, sustainable economic growth and a positive balance of key macroeconomic indicators, especially during the most acute phase of the global crisis in 1998 and 2008-2009, have shown the efficacy of taken socio-economic development measures.
The publication also lists sectors of the industry created over the past years in independent Uzbekistan. Among them – the automotive, oil and gas, chemical, food and textile industries, as well as the production of modern building materials, household appliances, pharmaceutical products.
It is emphasized that currently Uzbekistan is an example of stability and security in Central Asia, it acts as an engine of inclusive models of regional development, a growing and promising market for the countries and companies of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other regions of the world.
The article refers to a separate line of progressive development and expansion of relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
It is noted that the two economies are largely complementary: Malaysian products are in great demand in our market. In turn, the textile, chemical, agricultural and other Uzbek products are popular among Malaysian buyers.
Overall, Malaysia is a key partner of Uzbekistan in the region and the two countries are in favor of the expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
