SE Asia cyclone hits Malaysia too: Flood victims across nine states down, 27,522 remain in PPS

The number of flood evacuees housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) nationwide dropped to 27,522 as of 8.50am, compared with 29,457 yesterday.
Nine states remain affected – Kelantan, Selangor, Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu, Perak, Pahang, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal, the evacuees comprise 8,966 families placed at 244 PPS nationwide, with Kelantan recording the highest number at 6,310 people from 2,297 families.
“Six districts in Kelantan are affected, with 41 PPS in operation, namely Gua Musang, Pasir Mas, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Machang and Bachok,” the department said.
Perak recorded the second-highest number of evacuees, with 5,436 people from 1,629 families housed at 44 PPS across six districts. These include Perak Tengah, Manjung, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Larut, Matang and Selama.

In Kedah, 4,286 people from 1,383 families were placed at 24 PPS in three districts, Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu and Pokok Sena.
Terengganu reported 4,467 evacuees from 1,354 families in 67 PPS spread across seven districts, Kemaman, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, Setiu, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu and Besut.
In Perlis, 3,690 people from 1,471 families were housed at 23 PPS in Kangar, Padang Besar and Arau.
Selangor recorded 2,734 evacuees from 724 families at 17 PPS across four districts, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Klang and Sepang.
Pahang reported 591 evacuees from 194 families housed at 23 PPS in Kuantan, Lipis, Maran and Raub.
Meanwhile, one PPS each was opened in Sarawak (Miri) and Kuala Lumpur (Brickfields).
There are 19 evacuees from four families in Miri, and eight evacuees from seven families in Brickfields.
