Uzbekistan, as close neighbor, always has been supporting peace in Afghanistan
Speech of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in joint session of Legislative Chamber and Senate of Uzbekistan was not only directed at the assessment of home issues, but also outlined principal positions, based on the adopted conception of the Strategy for Actions of the development of Uzbekistan along five priority directions in 2017-2021,
H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the Uzbekistan never intervened in to the domestic affairs of Afghanistan. He underlined principal position of his country, which states that Uzbekistan supports territorial integrity and sovereignty of neighboring country. It is longstanding position of Uzbekistan to facilitate peace process in war-torn Afghanistan, which has been experiencing internal conflicts and foreign invasion aftermath since 1977.
Minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov said during the opened dialogue with public on June 5th 2017, annual trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan stands at $1 bn. This figures show existing great potential for mutual trade and economic cooperation between two friendly neighboring countries. Uzbekistan has big potential to supply neighboring Afghanistan with all necessary basic needs.
For many centuries between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has existed brotherly and friendly cooperation. It has very lasting and shining history. As Head of Ministry of foreign services of Uzbekistan said, Uzbekistan will continue to assist all affords to promote peace in neighboring country. He especially underlined that peace in Afghanistan can be achieved only by the dialog among all religious and political groups of that country, without interference of foreign forces. All neighboring countries should assist achieving peace and stability in Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
International community welcomes initiatives of internal reforms of Second President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They believe that his affords will foster internal resources of Uzbekistan to expend existing opportunities of this kingpin country, heart of Central Asia to promote bilateral development and stability in this region.
