Uzbekistan evacuates 100 injured Palestinians from Rafah for treatment
Uzbekistan has evacuated injured Palestinian children and women along with their companions. The injured Palestinians will be accommodated in rehabilitation centers and hospitals, Kun.uz reported.
Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Cairo, Mansurbek Kilichev, announced that on December 26, on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and in coordination with the Ministry of Health, 100 injured Palestinian children, women, and their companions were evacuated to Uzbekistan.
He emphasized that the evacuated Palestinians would remain as guests in Uzbekistan until they could return to their homeland.
Mansurbek Kilichev added that the evacuated Palestinians would reside in healthcare centers and hospitals, and the Uzbek government would provide all the necessary support to them, including accommodations, schools, food, and other necessities.
He explained that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in a speech delivered in November 2024 ahead of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit dedicated to the Palestinian issue, highlighted the importance of halting military actions in Palestinian territories and ensuring safe humanitarian corridors. Mirziyoyev had also expressed readiness to receive injured Palestinian children and women for treatment.
