Uzbeks – the strongest Boxing Nation in Asia, Again – Boxing Championship in Thailand finals

Uzbekistan dominates the Asian boxing championship

On December 11, the finals of the men’s bouts at the Asian Boxing Championship were held, and the tournament in Thailand concluded with Uzbekistan’s triumphant performance.

Throughout the day, 10 male boxers from Uzbekistan’s national team stepped into the ring in the finals. Among them, Shahzod Muzaffarov and Jasurbek Yuldoshev narrowly lost to Kazakh boxers in closely contested matches, earning silver medals. The remaining eight boxers proved their superiority over their opponents.

At the end of the championship, Uzbekistan’s men’s national team secured the top spot in the overall standings with 8 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, reaffirming their dominance in the continent.

Notably, the Uzbek boxers, fielding a renewed and younger lineup, managed to outshine Kazakhstan’s main team, which had competed in Paris, as well as Ukraine’s strong squad.

Here is the list of medalists from Uzbekistan’s men’s team at the Asian Championship:

Gold Medals:

•  48 kg: Shodiyorjon Melikuziev
•  51 kg: Asilbek Jalilov
•  57 kg: Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov
•  63.5 kg: Adhamjon Muhiddinov
•  67 kg: Mujibillo Tursunov
•  71 kg: Havasbek Asadullayev
•  75 kg: Javohir Ummataliyev
•  80 kg: Turabek Habibullayev

Silver Medals:

•  54 kg: Shahzod Muzaffarov
•  86 kg: Jasurbek Yuldoshev

Bronze Medal:

•  +92 kg: Jahongir Zokirov

Uzbekistan’s women’s team also secured the second overall position in the women’s competition at the Asian Championship, finishing behind Kazakhstan. The women’s team won 3 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

In total, Uzbekistan’s boxing teams claimed 20 medals at the tournament—11 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze—securing first place in the overall standings. Kazakhstan followed in second place with 20 medals (9 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze). Thailand took third with 3 golds (9 medals in total), while China (7 medals) and Tajikistan (5 medals) each claimed one gold medal, rounding out the top five.
