Wise decision by Dr M to continue talking to Pas even after March 17 deadline, says Azmin
SHAH ALAM: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s willingness to cooperate with Pas even after his one-month ultimatum ends on March 17 is not another U-turn, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Azmin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, said the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman’s decision should instead be considered as a “right move”.
He said this today in response to reports that Dr Mahathir has expressed his willingness to discuss with Pas on possible collaboration with Pakatan Harapan in the next
general election even after the deadline.
“I don’t think he is making a U-turn. I think that is a wise decision by PPBM. This is because discussions (with Pas) must continue. I always believe that we must have the
humility to talk and discuss but certainly we cannot resolve this issue in one meeting.
“We need to continue the talk, we need some consultation and discussion. And that was the position taken by PPBM. As for PKR, we have made our position clear from 2015 that
we will continue our working relationship with Pas.
“I have mentioned earlier it is not going to be easy. We should be able to sit down and talk in the interest of the nation and also the people. I think that should be the primary concern of all the political parties.
“We do have differences. I am not saying that we have to agree on all matters. But at least we must adopt and agree on common policies and common framework.” he said when
met at the 5th Malaysia Women Marathon held at Shah Alam Stadium today.
