Yaba pills worth RM1.8mil seized in Sungkai

IPOH: Police arrested two men and seized a total of 180,000 amphetamines (also known locally as ‘pil kuda’ or ‘yaba’ pill) worth RM1.8 million during a raid at Felda Gunung Besout in Sungkai here early today.

A source said police had acted on a tip-off and raided the home at about 2am. Checks in the rooms led to police discovering a white polystyrene box on the floor containing 90 yellow packets.

“Each of the yellow packets contained 10 blue plastic bags filled with red and green pills, believed to be drugs. During the raid, police also found 8.70 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu.

“The men aged 35 and 36 were tested positive for amphetamines,” he said adding that the case is being investigated under Section 39B, 39A(1) and 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The source said yaba pills are not popular in the state and that the police are in the midst of investigation to identify the source.
