Russian oil tanker bound for China arrives in India; first of seven vessels
Oil tanker Aqua Titan carrying Russian crude arrived at the New Mangaluru port on Saturday evening. The re-routing of such vessels comes after Indian refiners stepped up purchases of Russian oil following the 30-day waiver by the US.

The Russian oil tanker Aqua Titan, originally bound for China, has reached India’s west coast and is the first of at least seven such vessels diverted towards the country amid global supply disruptions.

The medium-sized tanker, which was loaded at a Baltic Sea port in late January, was originally bound for the Chinese port of Rizhao. However, it did a U-turn in mid-March, days after India received a temporary waiver from the US to buy “sanctioned” Russian oil stranded at sea.
