Malaysia Elections: Amanah accepts 5 seats for Melaka polls

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has accepted Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) seat allocation for the Melaka election, despite being allocated five seats compared with nine in the 2021 election.
Its vice-president, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, said the decision followed thorough negotiations at the coalition’s highest level.
“What matters to Amanah in any election is that we have been part of PH since its formation in 2015. We have always acted, organised and carried out our campaigns as a united coalition.
“The decision by PH’s top leadership was made after thorough discussions and negotiations,” he said after officiating at the 2026 National Mental Health Month celebration here today.
Dzulkefly, who is also Health Minister, said all party machinery, from top leaders and middle management to the grassroots, would comply with the coalition committee’s decision.
“We are grateful to have been allocated five seats, and we hope to win all of them.
“There is no benefit in being allocated many seats if we fail to win them.
“Therefore, we will do our best to support one another to ensure all PH partner candidates contesting the election win,” he said.

Under the seat allocation for the Melaka election on Nov 14, PKR will contest nine state seats, DAP seven and Amanah five, bringing the coalition’s total to 21 seats.
