Former Prosecutor General and incumbent one get into heated argument during Parliament discussion of Tekebayev’s case

MP Aida Salyanova and General Prosecutor Indira Joldubayeva got into heated argument during the Parliament hearing of the opposition leader Omurbek Tekebayev’s detention on March 1.

MPs heard the report of the National Security Committee and General Prosecutor’s Office regarding the matter.

Salyanova said that, “according to the given information, Russian businessman Leonid Mayevsky transfered money through Aleksey Modin on July 27.” Then she asked Joldubayeva if Tekebayev was officially in the interim government during the transaction.

Joldubayeva answered that all documents were checked and Tekebayev was officially in the interim government.

Jalyanova opposed to that and said that Joldubayeva is lying, because the interim government stopped working on July 12, 2010, which means Tekebayev was not an official by July 27, a date of transaction, stated Salyanova.

Joldubayeva noted that Mayevsky, Modin and Tekebayev met in May and all the obtained materials confirm it.

MP Iskhak Masaliyev asked the National Security Committee chief Abdil Segizbayev and General Prosecutor Indira Jldubayeva not to do a disservice investigating Tekebayev’s case.

Masaliyev noted that members of the interim government should not be counted as authorities because this institutional body does not even exist.

Joldubayeva answered that decrees of the interim government exist, and therefore Tekebayev had official powers.

Masaliyev added that authorities already opened these kind of cases in 2005 and 2010 giving the same arguments, but at the last time everything turns backwards. He asked officials to take actions in accordance with the law.
