Huawei cancels laptop launch after being hit with US ban

Huawei has cancelled the launch of its new laptop because it no longer has access to the necessary components after the US ban.

The Chinese telecoms company has suspended production at its personal computer arm because it can no longer license Microsoft’s Windows operating system or Intel’s processors, both crucial parts for its devices.

It is the first time US sanctions on Huawei have affected the release of a device made by the company. Donald Trump signed an executive order in May banning American companies from doing business with companies deemed national security threats and added Huawei to an “entity list”.
