Two-day hearing begins in UK over Palestine Action challenge to ‘terrorism’ proscription
A legal battle over a ban on British Palestine Action activists will resume today as the group continues to challenge its “terrorism” classification at the UK’s highest court.
The two-day hearing comes as the group’s proscription has failed to stop people from declaring their support for the group, which has led to mass arrests across the country.
According to campaign group Defend Our Juries, which has organised demonstrations backing the movement, about 4,200 people have been arrested since the British government outlawed Palestine Action in July last year.
Co-founder of the group, Huda Ammori, is set to argue that “only three of the 385 actions undertaken by PA over five years were assessed as meeting the definition of terrorism,” according to court documents.
In 2025, Palestine Action was banned under the UK’s Terrorism Act and membership of, or support for, the group was made a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Trump says Iran war played part in Republican losses during midterm elections
Trump says the war on Iran played a role in losses by his Republican Party in the US midterm elections as the Democrats won control of the House of Representatives and Senate.
“I think a part of it was Iran, but at the same time, people understood the importance of what I’ve done with Iran,” Trump said in a telephone interview with Fox News.
He said voters were probably unwilling to accept the short-term consequences of higher petrol prices.
Trump added that he was unlikely to change his cabinet.

US tax dollars should not be used to drop bombs on other people’s kids: El-Sayed
Democrat Abdul El-Sayed has defeated Republican Mike Rogers after a hard-fought Senate race in Michigan.
In his speech after claiming victory over Rogers, El-Sayed said: “It shouldn’t be this hard to afford a home. It shouldn’t be this hard to see a doctor in the richest and most powerful country in the world.”
“It shouldn’t be this hard to pay your taxes and know that that money is going to be spent on you and your kids instead of dropping bombs on somebody else and their kids.”
“America’s greatness is not about ignoring our flaws; it’s the courage that we have to correct them.”
The Egyptian-American doctor has been a staunch critic of the US-Israel war on Iran.

US response to Strait of Hormuz plan ‘unconvincing’, Iran says
Iran has called the US response to its seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz “unconvincing”, as US President Donald Trump confirmed launching strikes on an Iranian island near the strategic waterway.
The developments on Tuesday came as Qatar stepped up diplomatic efforts to avert a renewed war between the US and Iran and as another oil tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.
The indirect talks centre on an Iranian proposal to reopen the waterway over two days if the US meets Tehran’s seven demands, including the lifting of sanctions and ending a US naval blockade.
