Under the second president K.Tokaev’s watch, a monument to first president of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev dismantled
A monument to first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, inaugurated on his 80th birthday in 2020, was dismantled from the territory of the National Defense University in Astana. Information about the monument appeared on social networks.
The National Defense University confirmed to Orda.kz that the monument was removed.
“The National Defense University named after the first President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy was renamed into the National Defense University of Kazakhstan by order of the Minister of Defense. It was decided to move the monument, which was located on the territory of the National Defense University, to the building of the State Military History Museum of the Armed Forces,” the Ministry of Defense commented on the demolition of the monument.
The monument is in temporary storage in one of the buildings of the Ministry of Defense. The monument will be prepared and moved to the museum, the ministry added.
