“People died in April 2010 for motherland, not for your stupid party”: Atambayev to Ata-Meken supporters
“On 7 April 2010, people died for their motherland, not for a stupid party,” President Almazbek Atambayev said while delivering remarks at the ceremony of awarding outstanding citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
He reminded that the anniversary of April revolution is coming in a month.
Atambayev said those who died on April 7 did not want the interim government members to rob the country and become millionaires.
He also commented on Ata-Meken party supporters’ rallies to protest party leader’s arrest: “Our motherland is Kyrgyzstan. Do you really think that those who died on April 7 did it for your stupid party? They gave up their lives for the country,” Atambayev said adding that “the party leader will never admit the crimes he committed because he’s dishonest.”
