PETALING JAYA: Selangor is targeting RM8 billion in potential transaction value and at least 500 high-impact business-matching meetings at the 10th Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026.

State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said yesterday this year’s summit would focus on attracting higher-value investments to the state.

“Our core aspiration is to elevate the quality of investments coming into our state, making SIBS 2026 the definitive launchpad for high-value cross-border partnerships and cementing Selangor’s status as the gateway to Asean.”

He said this in his keynote address at the launch of SIBS.

Ng said SIBS would also support the state’s newly launched Rancangan Selangor Kedua (RS-2), a five-year blueprint aimed at driving sustainable and high-value economic growth until 2030.

He said RS-2 targeted average annual gross domestic product growth of 6.1 per cent, RM330 billion in cumulative investments and an unemployment rate of 2.2 per cent.

Under the strategy, Selangor would focus on expanding key sectors, including electrical and electronics (E&E), aerospace, automotive, the digital economy and the creative economy.

Ng said Selangor remained a leading investment destination, having ranked first among Malaysian states with RM33.1 billion in approved investments in the first quarter.

“For the first quarter, with RM33.1 billion, we were at the top.

“For the second quarter, third quarter and beyond, we are confident that the investments coming into Selangor will also remain quite high. The services sector is the main driver attracting investment into Selangor, followed by manufacturing.”

SIBS will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 14 to 17.

Marking a decade of connecting businesses and facilitating cross-border expansion, the summit will feature programmes covering investment, trade,

and talent development.These include the Selangor Asean Business Conference, Selangor Investment Forum, Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo, Selangor AI and Semiconductor Summit, Selangor International Care Expo, Selangor Techsphere Summit and Selangor Career Outreach Talent Expo.

The programmes will highlight areas including advanced manufacturing, integrated circuit (IC) design, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, smart cities, healthcare and talent development.

The summit will also be held alongside the third EU-Malaysia Business Day on Oct 13, organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia in collaboration with the Selangor government, Invest Selangor and Eurocham Malaysia.

The event will focus on strengthening Malaysia-EU business ties and investment opportunities in advanced manufacturing, the green transition, digitalisation and logistics.
