(Photo credit: Yemen Military Media)The Ansarallah-led Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced a large-scale wave of retaliatory operations against Saudi Arabia on 6 October, in response to brutal airstrikes and massacres committed by the Saudi-led coalition.
The YAF announced three “qualitative military operations” in response to 60 Saudi air and missile strikes over the past 24 hours targeting Sanaa, Al-Jawf, Taiz, Hajjah, Saada, and Marib, adding that the total number of Saudi strikes since the latest escalation has reached 1,576.
The first operation targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones.
The YAF said the strike scored a direct hit and disrupted air traffic.
The second operation targeted the Aramco refinery in Rabigh. The YAF said the strike sparked fires at the facility.
The third operation targeted Abha International Airport, Khamis Mushait Air Base, Akifah Camp in Asir, and other “sensitive sites” in Najran and Jizan, the YAF said, stressing that the strikes were accurate.
Video footage from overnight showed explosions from missiles impacting the kingdom.
Sanaa’s forces warned international airlines against continuing to use Saudi airspace, saying it has become “a theater of our operations,” with the exception of the airspace over the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
In a separate statement, the YAF said it consolidated control over all recent territorial gains, dismissing Saudi claims of battlefield successes as “imaginary victories.”
It also said it carried out dozens of strikes against Saudi-backed troop concentrations east of Al-Jawf governorate, resulting in heavy casualties and the destruction of several military vehicles.
Separate strikes targeted Saudi-backed forces east of Raghwan in Marib governorate, causing additional casualties and destroying more military vehicles, according to the Yemeni army.
The army added that Sanaa continues to pursue Saudi-backed forces in the remaining districts of Taiz governorate, and that the operations have caused widespread disarray and prompted the retreat of a number of Saudi-backed fighters.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition announced more strikes on Yemen.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said Saudi forces struck “military targets” belonging to Ansarallah in the western province of Hodeidah.
A day earlier, Saudi Arabia launched an operation dubbed “Dawn of Yemen,” committing war crimes against civilians, including the killing of a female student.
These areas include the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab Strait and much of the western coast, as well as multiple Red Sea islands formerly occupied by the UAE.
