Asian Development Bank supports construction of power transmission line worth $255 mln in Uzbekistan

Bishkek (AKIpress) – power supplies-electricityThe JSC Uzbekenergo started construction of the power transmission line worth $255 million in north-western part of the country, reports Sputnik.

“The company recently announced tender for the purchase of equipment for the first time. The delivery of the necessary equipment may begin in April-May 2017. Construction works started,” said representative of the company.

The project envisages construction of the new 364-km power transmission line, which will connect Takhiatash thermal power plant and two substations — Khorezm and Elikkala. The project will also propose construction of three substations in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm regions.

The transmission lines will allow to boost the flow of electricity from the north-western power unit to the more scarce Samarkand, Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions.

The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank in the amount of $150 million and the funds of the Uzbek side in the amount of $105 million.
