Flying in to KLIA after midnight? Buses replace Aerotrain from 12am to 5am during software works

- The KLIA Aerotrain will be temporarily paused from 12am to 5am during October and November for software updates, with buses substituting for transfers between the Main Terminal and Satellite Building.
- The first phase, field testing from October 8 to 17, will lead to an independent safety assessment.
- If successful, the updates will be permanently applied from November 28 to December 1.
- The initiative aims to ensure the Aerotrain continues providing reliable service, which has maintained 99.9% availability following extensive operational hours and a substantial passenger count.
SEPANG, Oct 7 — The KLIA Aerotrain will be paused from 12am to 5am during two rounds of software works in October and November, with buses taking over transfers between the Main Terminal and Satellite Building.
The first phase, field testing from October 8 to 17, will see the update installed and tested under actual operating conditions.
The results will then undergo an independent safety assessment.
Subject to the assessments, the update will be permanently rolled out from November 28 to December 1.
Passengers are advised to follow the signage to the bus lounge, where transfer buses will be available, or approach ground staff for assistance.
“Our priority is to ensure that the Aerotrain continues to provide a reliable and smooth service for passengers at KLIA,” KLIA chief operating officer Adam Nicholas Wilson said in a press statement today.
KLIA said the update follows the Aerotrain’s completion of 20,000 continuous operational hours.
It said the system has maintained 99.9 per cent availability since the Comprehensive Action Plan was completed in June.
Over the past 1.5 years, the Aerotrain has completed 167,481 return trips and carried about 23.55 million passengers, it added.
