Japan PM Kisida cabceled visit to KZ and UZB, but businessmen of Central Asia and Japan have signed cooperation agreements
The event took place last week within the framework of the summit of heads of state in the format “Central Asia + Japan“.
The signed documents envisage cooperation in such industries and sectors as energy and ecology, transport and logistics, digitalization, education, mechanical engineering, medicine and tourism.
The first Deputy Chairman of the State Investment Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farrukh Yusufzoda, spoke at the forum, who told the audience about the investment potential of Tajikistan.
According to the committee, the forum was held with the participation of more than 350 companies from Central Asia and Japan, and topical issues of strengthening trade, economic and investment ties were considered.
The participants of the event also discussed the development of human capital and financial systems. “The speakers stressed the need for international cooperation and exchange of experience to achieve sustainable development and strengthen financial stability in the countries of the region,“ the message reads.
Goskominvest notes that the forum provided a unique opportunity for the exchange of experience and best practices between representatives of various sectors of the economy, and its results “will give a new impetus to further strengthening cooperation between Central Asia and Japan, contributing to economic growth and sustainable development in the region.“
According to the State Investment Committee, Japan has invested $42.5 million in Tajikistan‘s economy over the past
two years.
The total volume of Tajik-japanese trade turnover in the first half of this year amounted to $44.3 million, which is 48% less compared to the same period in 2023. More than 99.3% of the bilateral trade turnover is accounted for by the supply of Japanese products to Tajikistan.
