One month free ride for everyone: Malaysia launches Shah Alam LRT Line Speed Train tomorrow

SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam LRT Line will open to the public tomorrow, supported by a network of feeder buses and Rapid KL On-Demand van services, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
“This integration is crucial in completing the first-mile, last-mile ecosystem, enabling users to enjoy a more integrated, convenient and efficient journey from the starting point to the final destination,” he said at the launch of the line at the Johan Setia Station Depot.
Loke said the opening of the line marked a significant step in expanding a modern, integrated and world-class public transport network in the Klang Valley.
The project, involving an investment of RM16.63 billion, is among the government’s strategic investments in strengthening public transport infrastructure.
“The opening of the Shah Alam Line completes another modern rail transport network connecting residential areas, commercial centres, educational institutions, hospitals and industrial areas in the western Klang Valley.

“This route not only improves connectivity, but also serves as a catalyst for economic development, more sustainable urban development, and increased public access to job opportunities and services,” he said.
Loke added that the facility would offer a comfortable and reliable mobility option.
“This facility will not only save daily expenses, but also increase the connectivity and daily productivity of the people,” he said.
He thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for officiating the launch ceremony, calling it a meaningful moment for the Transport Ministry, Prasarana, and all public transport users in the Klang Valley.
He also commended the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), local authorities, and strategic partners for ensuring the new line could operate smoothly and safely.
“I hope the opening of the Shah Alam Line will be a catalyst for increased use of public transport in this country.
“More importantly, I hope this investment will continue to provide great benefits to the people, stimulate economic growth and support more sustainable urban development for the prosperity of the country,” he said.
The Shah Alam Line, also known as LRT3, spans 37.8km with 20 stations connecting Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang.
